Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan, blonde-haired and blue-eyed, was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra in Fairfield Connecticut to Susan (Duggan) an ex- actress and English teacher and Harry Hyra, a maths teacher. Ruthenian and Polish, Irish, German, and German descent. "Hyra" Her maternal grandmother's maiden name, is Ruthenian. Meg graduated from Bethel High School, Bethel in May 1979. When she moved to New York, she attended New York University where she majored in journalism. Meg Ryan was her name and she began acting in order to earn additional money as she finished her education. 1981 was her big screen debut. She played Candice Bergen's little girl in the film by George Cukor Rich and Famous (1981). She was an auditioned actress and cast as Betsy in the daily television soap"As the World turns (1956). She was in the cast from 1982 until 1984. Meg was also a character in the TV series One of the Boys (1982) but the show was later removed. Meg moved to Hollywood in 1984, where she was offered an offer to appear on the western television series Wildside (1985). Meg's small part in the blockbuster film Top Gun (1986) led to her being cast in Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) where she co-starred with Dennis Quaid. For the remake of D.O.A., she starred again with Dennis Quaid. (1988), and were wed on Saint Valentine's Day 1991. Meg starred in When Harry Met Sally... (1989), that made the scene at the restaurant famous. Meg was nominated to both the Golden Globe and the BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. She also was a part of the highly successful Sleepless in Seattle (1993) which received nominations for the Golden Globe. In 1994, Meg decided to act in a different way when she appeared as an alcoholic spouse and mother in the film When a Man Loves a Woman (1994). Meg returned to being "cute" following that film with I.Q. (1994) and French Kiss (1996). People Magazine voted Meg as one of the top 50 most beautiful people in the world in 1994.
