Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). At the age of three, she left California and older, her family members and her moved to the United States. Summer went to American and British schools while her family lived abroad. Her return to Pasadena, California just before her 14th birthday. Summer was only five years old when she began to fall in love with acting. She enrolled in her first acting class. Nine months later, she was signed by an agent and a manager , and started to pursue her goal full-time. She attends college in her own time, and is working to earn her degree. Was among the young celebrities who were featured in the cover of Vanity Fair's story, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Most Hot Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was selected as one of the "Ten actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. When she was 14, Bishil started acting classes. In just one year she signed a contract with an agency and a manager. Bishil was initially seen on the Nickelodeon TV series Just for Kicks. She also appeared on other shows for children. In 2007, she played the lead actress in Alan Ball's film Towelhead which was a re-imagining of his novel. Slate critic Dana Stevens said, "Her performance is the most genuine thing in a film which, despite its best intentions, feels thoroughly phony and a little embarrassing, much like an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching." Bob Strauss, a Los Angeles newspaper journalist, stated that Bishil "...is one of the most talented natural actresses on film in recent times. Gary Goldstein in a September 12 Los Angeles Times review of the film Towelhead said that "...newcomer Summer Bishil turns in a sly, riveting performance as Jasira. "In 2009, she made Wayne Kramer's new project, Crossing Over, starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, a portrayal which garnered praise from Associated Press's Jay Reiner. She was picked to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender. This was to be the primary storyline of the planned but never released sequel.
