Beyonce Giselle Knowles was conceived in Houston, Texas on September 4 in 1981. Mathew is her father. He is African-American. The mother of her, Tina, is of Louisiana Creole origins - mostly African and French with ancestors who came from Louisiana and before that, Canada. Beyonce is also 1/32 Irish and has distant Breton as well as Spanish, Indonesian and Chinese roots. According to some, she created a stage character called "Sasha" to overcome her shyness.
