Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was created in Miami, Florida
on the 30th November 1977. American electro house music producer D.J., and
record producer Steve Aoki is his name. and music executive. He is the son of
Rocky Aoki and Chizuru Kbayashi. His father was a wrestler who also helped
establish the chain of restaurants Benihana. He has 2 older siblings: sister
Kana (who is often referred to by her middle name Grace) and brother Kevin
(owner of Doraku Sushi restaurant). Half-sister Devon Aoki is a model and
actress. He was born in Newport Beach, California & graduated from
Newport Harbor High School in 1995. There, he was on the varsity badminton
team. He was a student at UC Santa Barbara and graduated with two B.A. degrees,
one in feminist studies and the one in sociology. In his college days, he
recorded DIY recordings and held underground events from his Biko room in the
Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch became a
performance venue when the building was renamed The Pickle Patch. He also was active
in student protests at UCSB as the founder of an Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist
League chapter on campus. He had started an independent record label when he
was during his 20s. It was called Dim Mak and was named for his childhood idol
Bruce Lee. In March of 2010, he released I'm in the House, a collaboration w/
the Zuper Blahq, a pseudonym of the Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am. It was
ranked the top spot at No. 29 on the U.K. Singles Chart in the very first week
of its release. It was ranked among the top 5 on both the U.K. Indie Chart
& U.K. Dance Chart. The track was featured on the MTV series Jersey
Shore. It also made an appearance in Piranha the feature film Piranha as well
as the trailer for Think Like A Man. Producer and songwriter Lucas Secon
confirmed in a interview in May 2010 with HitQuarters, that he and Rivers Cuomo
had recently worked with Aoki on one song. The song was named the
highest-grossing dancer from North America by Pollstar in 2012. He has
collaborated with artists like Iggy Azalea, Afrojack, LMFAO, Linkin Park,
Will.i.am, Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke, BTS, Louis Tomlinson, Rise
Against, Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy. He is famous for remixing artists
like Kid Cudi.
